I2K6!

Yeah - it's been awhile since there've been postings here. So, The Infinity Group is meeting in Las Vegas this year, August 29-31 2006. This is a significant year, because it's the first time we're meeting in a town where none of us is the host.

Dave's topic this year will be "Curves from straight lines: visualizing solutions of homogenous linear second-order differential equations." Hold onto your hats, y'all - it'll be a wild ride.

Dave's conference topic

I'll be speaking on partially ordered sets, with a look to potential modeling applications.

A Partially Ordered SET, or POSET, is a set of objects with an associated partial order (reflexive, transitive, anti-symmetric). A common partial order is the integers, and the less-than-or-equal-to operator for the ordering. I dunno if there's any way to model the brain with this stuff - the reflexitivity might make this tough - but this'll be a pretty good group to test it out on.

I2K5 conference announced!

That's right - we're sneaking in a conference this year just under the wire - Dec 31st, 2005. We'll have the usual speakers, and the possible addition of Dr. Matt Wolff-Meyer. Topics to include some stuff on brains and some stuff on math - just like usual - and a discussion of next year's conference location and date. Then to the drinking!

Huh

If I wrote a poem
Would any body care?

If I wrote a poem
Would you still be there?

If I wrote a poem
A sixpence for your thoughts.

If I wrote a poem
Bien sur, avec beaucoup bon mots.

If I wrote a poem
Your love would I save?

If I wrote a poem
I'd write it on your grave.

(Whistles, walks away into the sunset.)

Deuce

Actually the emails are now secondary to the DnD blog family. But Dave, you should really get in on the dearestjessica action while the getting's good. Those shares are HOT.

So, uh, how's it going?

Welcome welcome!

I've set this blog up mostly to purchase shares for it on www.blogshares.com - but perhaps it will grow to be the venue for our geeky pursuits. I doubt it will displace the emails as our primary means of communicating, though.
